Aaria Design |
Having created gifts for family and friends for years these products were a natural progression from individual items to a series of items for sale online. Mother and daughter, Taongahuia and TeAroha Maxwell, have teamed up to bring you Maori Greeting Cards, Photo-products, Web Design, pendants and gift sets to add to the repertoire of items on offer at Iti Gifts. Hiptradition
|
"Hip and Traditional" Resin taonga. This small family business started out of the family home in Awahou, Rotorua in 2009, as a result of dabbling with resin creations. Having a well known carver for a father, Te Hau was in the right environment to learn his initial skill base in the art of whakairo or carving. He added to these skills working on various large and small projects which has led him to create these wonderful works of art. The carvings, moulds and designs, made by Te Hau, are individually created from home in his shed and finished off with the help of his equally talented family. All HiptraDitions taonga are original. Te Hau is skilled in many Maori traditional arts and crafts including Kapa Haka, whakairo, taonga puoro and now adds this contempory creative art form to his vast experience. His tribal affiliations connect him to Te Arawa whanui, Ngati Rangiwewehi, Ngati Whakaue, Tuhourangi, Ngati Pikiao and also Ngati Rangitihi and Whakatohea. |

Iti Gear |
Another little venture of Taongahuia and TeAroha's initially inspired from some designs of (and in memory of) daughter Teri-Waimarie, then brought to life when our mokopuna (pushing the old toy car on the about us page) was born. We wanted something to reflect our maori culture, celebrate life, something relevant to our tamariki and something fun to wear as well. |
